New OHW Course!

Due to popular demand, we've just started running a totally new wine course. Ask and you shall receive.

Organised by Viajante Sincera in conjunction with the fantastic Garrafeira Imperial, Lisbon's finest winebar and shop, we have just added An Introduction to Wine Tasting Techniques to our ever-growing portfolio. Designed for people who love wine but don't always know how to get the most out of it, OHW's new experience teaches you how to evaluate a wine's appearance, bouquet, flavour profile and mouth-feel. And obviously we need to practice with all sorts of different wines, so the Garrafeira kindly provides us with some excellent white, rosé, red and Port as well as a wonderfully atmospheric private tasting room. Touching on some of the more common defects, we also learn when a wine served in a restaurant should be sent back. And finally we finish up with a lesson in basic wine scoring parameters and protocols which tends to lead to some lively debates...

On balance, I'd give it a 20 out of 20.

Mari loved it so much that she made us this video:

And Talita posted some photos of the inaugural event with a lovely review:

Some impressions from a person who didn't understand anything about wine (note the verb in the past tense, because NOW I do), trying to learn how to use the 'aroma wheel'... The Introduction to Wine Tasting Techniques Masterclass was a super innovative and enriching experience for me. Thank you to Mari for the idea and for organising the event, as well as the winemaker and well-known sommelier Miles Edlmann from One Hour Wine for sharing his knowledge, and the Garrafeira Imperial for the atmosphere and for hosting the event. I loooved it! Can't wait for the second edition!
